Chocolate Blog
•November 22, 2007 • Leave a CommentThis is Apres Peau Chocolates. I love the designs on the packaging. The above chocolate bars are made to pay tribute to Washington DC landmarks. As you see they have an interesting title, “Washington Monumint”, “Capitol Coconut”, and “Smithsonian Salty Pretzel”. This is such a good marketing idea. It is fun and catchy. I love the colors being used. As you see, each has a touch of color that make out different focal points. It’s an entertaining and intelligent souvenir… with taste.

This is currently one of my favorite ads going on. This is For Geicko Insurance. This is a bumper sticker I found online. Geicko has quite a few mascots now a days, the lizard, caveman, etc. But this is by far the best. It gets the viewer thinking. “Cavemen are people too”…..what is that??? Oh, so easy a caveman can do it. It is pretty funny once you think about it. Unfortunately, they thought it was so funny they made it into a t.v. show, and that took away some of the luster of the whole campaign. I love that they only used three colors, with the silhouette of the caveman in the back. Simple, but classic.

This image is from Design Graphics Magazine, Issue 112. This is an Australian ad for Zones Breath Mints. I enjoyed the picture because it has three images to look at, not just one. I like how the designer layered and inserted photograph facial images on the people. He also was very creative in making all the indivials have images, such as garlic, fish and socks on their mouths to represent “stinky” breath. I think the image is chaotic, yet still in balance and grabs attention.
Girl with Red Leash
•October 17, 2007 • 1 CommentThis was a unique ad I found in CMyk Magazine, August 2007 issue. This is a very interesting ad for me. The designer created this in order to push the boundaries of fashion while questioning women and their roles in society. The asymmetrical positioning, and focal point of the red leash really stand out from the pale white background and dress of the model. The ad, even with no type, really sends out a message
Extra….creative.

Here we see a visual add for Veer.com. That was found in Print magazine, July/August 2003 issue. This catches the readers attention by the asymmetry of the man placed on the right hand side of the ad. Not to mention emphasis by the colors of the mask standing out against the blurred blue background. The mere hilarity of the image is enough to get the viewer to read the back of the page and see what they are trying to sell.

This pic comes from Communication Arts Magazine, September/October 2000 issue. I loved this image. It is for the Creative Circus Design School in Altlanta, GA. I enjoy that they take the idea that the lunacy that makes artists unmarketable in most industries is what makes them a precious commoditiy in advertising.
